This is the cake I made for my father-in-law's 90th birthday. It's the same concept as the previous cake (the Chinese New Year cake.) Inside is chocolate cake with cherries and stabilized whipping cream covered by chocolate ganache. The sides are individual panels of royal icing. The top is a replica of his ham radio tower made from skewers and toothpicks. The base is a granite tile which I have adopted as my newest cake platter.

Chinese New Year
A year or two ago the International Friends group celebrated Chinese New Year. This is the cake I brought:
The cake is covered with white chocolate. The panels are made from royal icing. Wind wrote 'Happy New Year' in Chinese. I was glad that I made several extra panels because they are very delicate.
