My father-in-law and sister-in-law share a birthday, so when I volunteered to make the cake for the family celebration, I chose to make half the cake celebrate my fil's birthday, and the other half to celebrate my sil's birthday. I did the side with the letters; my very artistic friend Robin did the giraffe side. It's chocolate with chocolate ganache covered with white chocolate. I don't have the technique down yet for the white chocolate. It takes way too long, doesn't turn out smooth enough, and it it too hard. Next time I will try white chocolate ganache.
