62nd Anniversary Cake



Bryan and I made this for Gary's parents' 62nd anniversary. It's chocolate cake (baked in the pans my mom saved from her wedding 50+ years ago) with cherry filling and chocolate ganache icing coated with white chocolate. The decorations are cut from chocolate fondant. Originally I tried using an icing bag to apply the white chocolate coat, but Bryan came up with a better idea--he found a new paint brush and painted the chocolate on, smoothing it out with a hot knife. He also applied all the decorations after I cut them out as he directed. I should have spent more time stabilizing it and setting it up straight.
